Linear Invoices dashboard — invoice generation from Linear tickets
Linear Invoices started as an internal tool. We needed a way to bill clients based on Linear tickets without manual data entry. Instead of buying existing software, we decided to build it ourselves — using Claude as our primary development partner. The result: a production SaaS in 3 weeks.
The Problem
Manual invoicing is broken
Freelancers and agencies using Linear for project management spend hours creating invoices manually. Copy ticket titles, calculate hours, format everything — it's tedious and error-prone.
Existing tools don't fit
Generic invoicing software doesn't understand Linear's data model. Time tracking is scattered across tools. Clients wait too long for invoices, and billable work gets missed.

Built 100% with Claude Code
Every line of code in Linear Invoices was written using Claude Code. Our development workflow uses Anthropic's Claude as the primary coding partner — Claude Code handles implementation of API endpoints, database queries, and React components while human engineers focus on architecture and review. This isn't a demo or prototype. It's production software serving real users, built in 3 weeks using our Claude Code workflow.

Go with PostgreSQL. RESTful API handling Linear webhooks, invoice generation, and Stripe integration. Deployed on our infrastructure with 99.9% uptime.
Frontend
Next.js with TypeScript. Server-side rendering for fast initial loads. Clean UI focused on getting invoices out quickly.
Results
Linear Invoices launched to production in December 2024. It's now available to freelancers and agencies who bill clients through Linear. The project demonstrates what's possible when experienced engineers work alongside AI — not as a replacement, but as a force multiplier.
